Fraudulent Email Accuses Recipients of Viewing Illegal Content

The Information and Communication Technologies Authority (ICTA) has issued a public warning about a fraudulent email accusing individuals of viewing child pornography websites.

The ICTA confirmed that the message is a hoax and does not originate from its services.

The deceptive communication, which misleads recipients by falsely claiming to be from the ICTA and other authorities, uses the organisation’s logo without permission.

It also features the name and a forged signature of a former executive director who has not held the position for several years.

Deceptive Email

In a statement released this Friday, August 22, the ICTA denounced the email as a “deceptive maneuver” designed to mislead the public.

The authority is urging everyone to exercise extreme caution and to report any suspicious emails to the relevant authorities.
