The Mauritian government has allocated Rs 2 million to purchase software that provides real-time transcription of audio recordings from court proceedings. This software will support English, French, and Creole languages. Attorney General Gavin Glover announced this in the National Assembly on Tuesday, July 22.

An additional Rs 2 million has been set aside for a similar project in Rodrigues. The total budget for both projects is Rs 4 million.

The system in Mauritius is expected to be rolled out starting February 2026 and should be fully operational by August 2026.

In Rodrigues, the implementation will take place between January and June 2026.

This initiative aims to modernize the judiciary system. A key part of the plan includes training judicial staff to effectively use the new technology.
