University admissions in Mauritius are declining, especially at the University of Mauritius (UoM). Professor Sanjeev Sobhee announced this after a research workshop held on Monday, July 7, in Ébène.

The event was organized by the social sciences and humanities departments of UoM, in partnership with several African universities.

Professor Sobhee explained that the drop in admissions is mainly due to low participation in the Higher School Certificate (HSC) exams.

He also mentioned that UoM is working with other African universities to boost its appeal to students from the continent.
