8-day-old Infant Dies During Flight from Mauritius to Chennai

Eight-day-old infant dies on flight from Mauritius to Chennai for heart treatment. Leshna, who was born with heart problems, was traveling with her parents to seek treatment at a private hospital in Chennai.
On the evening of Monday, June 2nd, as the flight with 320 passengers was approaching Chennai, the infant’s condition suddenly worsened. Leshna, who was born just eight days earlier with heart issues, was traveling with her parents, 37-year-old Moonish Kumar and Pooja, 32.
Due to her health crisis, the pilot requested priority landing permission from air traffic control. The flight landed at Chennai airport around 6 pm. Medical teams rushed onto the aircraft but confirmed that Leshna had passed away.
Her parents were deeply distressed. Airport police arrived at the scene and arranged for her body to be taken to the Children’s Hospital in Egmore for a post-mortem.
The flight was scheduled to leave for Mauritius at 6:35 pm, but the departure was delayed by an hour following the incident.
