The annual vaccination campaign against seasonal influenza is set to commence this Monday, 21st April 2025. Spanning a month, this vital initiative has been meticulously planned, with a detailed schedule to be disseminated through the media. This announcement follows a significant meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Friday, 18th April, where the Ministry of Social Security outlined the necessary arrangements for the campaign.

In alignment with the recommendations of the World Health Organisation, this year’s vaccination drive will prioritise high-risk groups, including:

  • Individuals aged 55 and over
  • Residents of charitable institutions and private care homes
  • Children with disabilities attending specialised schools

Vaccinations will be administered on-site at institutions and care homes, while mobile doctors will conduct home visits for those unable to travel.

Furthermore, vaccines will be dispatched to the islands of Rodrigues and Agalega, ensuring that no one is left vulnerable in the face of this seasonal threat.

As the campaign approaches, the urgency of protecting our most at-risk populations cannot be overstated.

The government’s commitment to safeguarding public health is clear, and it is imperative that those eligible take advantage of this crucial opportunity.
