In a statement made during the Prime Minister’s Question Time in Parliament on July 9th, Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth informed that it will not be possible to use the new national digital identity card for the upcoming legislative elections.

The Prime Minister’s statement came in response to a question posed by Labour Party MP, Fabrice David.

According to the Prime Minister, using the new digital identity card for the elections will require feasibility studies and verification equipment in voting centers.

He emphasized that this is not a feasible option at present.
