New Rs2.6BnTeaching Hospital Nears Completion

The construction site of the new Flacq Teaching Hospital in Constance is bustling with activity, marking a significant milestone two years after the foundation stone was laid in August 2021.

With a budget of Rs 2.6 billion, the construction is being undertaken by the Indian conglomerate Larsen & Toubro, employing hundreds of Indian workers.

Upon completion, the facility will house just over 500 beds, a 62-bed intensive care unit, and ten operating theatres. Spanning across 25 acres, the institution will place a strong emphasis on education, featuring a dedicated educational zone for 100 students, complete with a 500-seat auditorium and a wing for specialisations equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.

Initially slated for completion in 2022, the project is now scheduled for conclusion by the end of this year.
