With 7,470 COVID-19 cases reported on Saturday evening, Rodrigues seems to be heading towards 10,000 positive cases for COVID-19, representing about 25% of the population.

It is feared that the rise of contaminations could affect the regional elections scheduled for Sunday 27.

According to Le Mauricien, three other COVID-19-related deaths were recorded over the weekend, including the father of the Deputy Chief Commissioner of the Regional Assembly of Rodrigues Mac Donald Lisette.
