FCC Detains 2 Police Officers following Alleged Extortion of Family in Terre-Rouge
Two police officers and former members of the Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT) have been arrested overnight by the Financial Crimes Commission (FCC) following allegations of extortion.
Sergeant Norbert Moanoovaloo and Constable Nundanee Ragoo were taken into custody and remain in detention ahead of their scheduled appearance in court this Saturday, 16 May.
The investigation centers on allegations that the two officers extorted money from a family residing in Terre-Rouge.
The suspected extortion reportedly took place in the wake of a house search conducted by the MCIT at the beginning of May.
It is understood that both officers were recently transferred out of the specialized MCIT unit.
The Financial Crimes Commission’s investigation remains active, and further arrests have not been ruled out as inquiries continue.
