Bank One Unveils Luxury Lounge and Elite Metal Card in Strategic Growth Push
Bank One has officially accelerated its premium banking strategy with the dual launch of its first-ever physical luxury space, the Tribeca Lounge, and the exclusive Mastercard World Elite Metal card.
The move, celebrated at Tribeca Mall, signals a significant shift toward “phygital” banking—combining high-end face-to-face consultancy with 24/7 digital automation.
The ceremony was attended by the Governor of the Bank of Mauritius, Priscilla Muthoora Thakoor, and a senior delegation from Mastercard.
A New Era of Elite Banking
The Tribeca Lounge departs from the traditional branch model by removing all teller counters.
Instead, the space is dedicated to private consultations provided by the Elite Banking team, covering Wealth Management, Private, Consumer, and Corporate banking.
Routine transactions have been shifted entirely to digital channels, such as the POP app, or the Lounge’s 24/7 iATMs.
These machines handle cash and cheque deposits, withdrawals, and currency card transactions, allowing the physical staff to focus on complex financial needs.
“The Tribeca Lounge and the Mastercard World Elite Metal align with our desire to offer a more fluid and exclusive banking experience,” said Sunil Ramgobin, CEO of Bank One.
He noted that the bank is investing simultaneously in physical spaces and digital capabilities to add value across Mauritius and the wider region.
The Mastercard World Elite Metal
The newly unveiled metal card serves as the flagship of Bank One’s card portfolio. Designed for high-net-worth lifestyles, the card offers:
- Travel: Access to over 1,300 airport lounges worldwide and priority lanes at 30+ international airports.
- Lifestyle: Inclusion in the Mastercard Gold Program and access to TEN Concierge services.
- Rewards: A joint promotional campaign starting in the second quarter of 2026 will offer cardholders the chance to win a BYD electric vehicle.
Shehryar Ali, Senior Vice-President at Mastercard for East Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands, emphasized that the collaboration aims to provide innovative solutions that match the pace of modern life while maintaining premium security.
Operational Hours
Following a successful soft launch in December 2025, the Tribeca Lounge is now fully operational.
Located within the Tribeca Mall to integrate seamlessly into clients’ daily routines, the lounge is open Monday to Saturday, from 09:00 to 20:00.
According to Guillaume Passebecq, Head of Consumer, Private Banking and Wealth Management, this is only the beginning.
The bank is already working to further enhance client onboarding and access to specialised financial expertise in the coming months.
