At a reception organized in his honor by his supporters, known as “BAI Forever”, Dawood Rawat spoke out on Wednesday evening, December 11, at the Water Edge party hall in the north of Mauritius.

The former Chairman Emeritus of British American Investment Group (BAI) began by extending greetings to the attendees. “I am pleased to see you all,” he said.

He then emphasized that he is not short on enemies. “My daughters remained in Mauritius during my absence abroad, they stood up for us,” he pointed out.

He also added “Mauritians have become a united and intelligent nation. “When we don’t like someone, we expel them; this is a strong message to the new leaders”

Rawat also mentioned the “10 years of martyrdom” that he and his family had endured.

“But when I see you all here, I notice that you have erased 10 years of martyrdom. It’s as if BAI had always existed,” he stressed.

He then explained the deep meaning behind his return to Mauritius:

I came to Mauritius to fight for my family and children, but also for you, our clients. I will not forget you.

Rawat also made a comment about the country’s financial situation: “You’ve heard how dry the country is. The coffers are empty. We know where the money has gone,” he added.

Finally, Rawat promised to find a solution: “It’s not going to happen tomorrow or even next week. But I’m ready to take on the challenge,” he concluded.

Just to say a big thank you Mr Rawat for your encouraging message for the victims of BAI who have been living in limbo for the past 10 years, not knowing if their remaining funds will be refunded and sadly I’m one of the many victims.
I wish you well Mr Rawat for all your encouraging message, hoping there’s going to be a favourable outcome for all victims of BAI, I have not given up hope all those years, as one say, there’s always light at the end of the tunnel.
Good luck in your hard work Mr Rawat, God bless you.
