Air Mauritius staff take employer to court over compulsory vaccination

Eight members of the Air Mauritius Cabin Crew Association have filed a constitutional complaint against COVID-19 compulsory vaccination imposed by their employer.

Yogita Babboo, Annabella Russia, Marise Julien, Patricia Mallet, Lillyrose Chaperon, Anju Devi Gya, Sperenza Follette and Denis Labonne are challenging the regulations under the Quarantine Act.

They claim their fundamental rights are being violated by their employer Air Mauritius- the airline reportedly refused to give them access to their workplace because they are not vaccinated.

The case, directed against Air Mauritius Ltd, with the Minister of Health and the State as co-defendants, will be called before the Supreme Court on January 20, 2022.
