Abdoula Transferred to Moka, 1st Night in Police Custody After Clinic Stay
The Chief Executive Officer of the Grant Thornton accounting firm, Sattar Hajee Abdoula, has been transferred from a clinic to the Moka detention centre to begin his first night in police custody.
Key Allegations and Arrest Details
Abdoula, who was under police surveillance in the clinic since his arrest, was moved to the detention facility this evening.
He was provisionally charged with money laundering by the Financial Crimes Commission (FCC) on 19 November 2025 under the Financial Intelligence and Anti-Money Laundering Act (FIAMLA).
Core of the Investigation
The investigation focuses on an alleged illicit transaction involving a deposit of Rs 3.7 million made in March 2020 into the account of Grant Thornton Ltd (Advisory Services).
This transaction occurred just one month prior to Abdoula’s appointment as an administrator for Air Mauritius.
