A Mauritian family is facing a desperate race against time to raise Rs 400,000 needed for their seven-year-old daughter, Khalisah Emamally, who is battling severe cerebral palsy. The sum is the shortfall required to meet the cost of her seventh round of vital treatment in India, which is scheduled for October 3, 2025.

Khalisah, from the Saint-Paul area of Phoenix, has been diagnosed with Spastic Dystonic Cerebral Palsy.

Her parents, Zainabee Emamally and Ally Ackbar, a petrol pump attendant, have already taken her for six interventions at the NeuroGen Brain and Spine Institute in India, relying on public donations.

The entire upcoming stage of treatment is budgeted approximately Rs 747,000, and while the family has gathered a significant portion, the remaining Rs 400,000 is proving to be a substantial hurdle for the modest family.

‘A Life-Buoy’ of Hope

The treatments Khalisah received in India—which include rehabilitation, intensive therapies, and stem cell grafts—do not offer a complete cure but are described by her father as a “life-buoy” preventing her from “regressing.”

Due to a lack of specialised structures in Mauritius and the absence of state support, seeking help abroad was their only option.

Khalisah’s mother, Zainabee, said that every day of delay means “one less chance” for her daughter, whose childhood is suspended between pain and hope.

“We live in fear, but also in hope. Because every little progress is a victory,” Ally added, his features marked by fatigue.

A Silent Battle at Home

Khalisah’s condition severely limits her movements and has been an “ordeal” for the entire family since birth.

She has two sisters, aged eight and four, who can be seen running and laughing in the courtyard of their discreet home.

Zainabee, her mother, is often heart-broken to see her daughter watching from the side, unable to join them. “She has an incredible joy of living. But sometimes, I catch her crying softly because she would like to run with the others,” she confided.

Her elder sister, aged eight, encapsulated the family’s simple wish: “I want my little sister to walk with me to school.”

The parents are urging the Mauritian public to help, stating that “every gift is a step towards a better future for my daughter.”

A Fight Against the Odds

The parents described Khalisah as a “little warrior” who has already endured more suffering than many adults.

Despite her struggles, the seven-year-old maintains a smile and a “light in her eyes” that gives her parents the strength to continue their difficult journey.

The family highlighted that this situation is a test of society, proving that “even in the ordeal, humanity can triumph.”

Khalisah, they explained, needs an “army” of solidarity, love, and donations behind her to ensure she can live a life with greater possibilities.

The call for help highlights the importance of solidarity in a “human drama” that transcends medical bills and focuses on the unconditional love of two parents for their child.

“We need you,” repeated Ally, Khalisah’s father, his voice strained.

“Every donation is a step towards a better future for my daughter. Even a small gesture can change everything.”

How to Aid Khalisah

The Emamally family is making a desperate new appeal for solidarity to secure the final funds.
