Air Mauritius CEO Krešimir Kučko is currently under suspension pending the outcome of an investigation into allegations against him.

The investigation, led by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), will present its findings to the Air Mauritius board, who will then determine the appropriate action to be taken.

Kučko, a Croatian national, was suspended in September along with Chief Finance Officer Jean Laval Ah Chip after the board received troubling allegations.

These allegations involve claims that the executives stayed in a luxurious hotel in Bordeaux, France, with their expenses covered by an aircraft leasing company that Air Mauritius deals with.

Kučko assumed the CEO role one year ago, having previously held leadership positions in Gulf Air, Air Montenegro, and Croatian Airlines, among others.

If the PwC report validates the allegations and leads to the termination of Kučko’s contract, Laurent Recoura is reportedly the favored choice of the Air Mauritius board and Airport

Holdings Ltd (AHL), the state entity that owns the airline, to become the new CEO.

Recoura, aged 59, joined Air Mauritius as Chief Commercial Officer in August 2022 and has been fulfilling the CEO responsibilities since Kučko’s suspension.

With a strong background in aviation, Recoura has held senior positions in various airlines, including Continental Airlines, United Airlines, Philippine Airlines, Wataniya Airways, Jet Airways, and Iman Air.
