An Indian Army helicopter was forced to make an emergency landing in Albion on Thursday, 12 March, shortly after participating in Mauritius’ 58th Independence Day celebrations.

The aircraft had just completed an aerial demonstration over the Champ de Mars when a technical fault was detected on board.

Acting on immediate safety instructions to mitigate further risk, the pilot grounded the vehicle near the Albion lighthouse.

Authorities have confirmed that there were no injuries reported during the incident.

Technical Failure

Preliminary reports indicated that the emergency maneuver was triggered by a technical problem identified immediately after the festive displays.

The helicopter was part of a larger contingent deployed specifically for the national celebrations marking 58 years of independence.

The site of the landing, located near the landmark lighthouse in the Albion region, remains secure as officials verify the nature of the technical fault.
