Grand Gaube Residents Block Road as Major Pump Failure Cuts Water

Published

on

Angered residents in Grand-Gaube staged a public protest this morning after the region was left without running water following a major equipment failure.

The demonstration erupted early Friday, 13 February, after taps across the area ran dry, prompting locals to take to the streets to voice their frustration over the loss of the essential service.

Emergency Response

The Central Water Authority (CWA) moved quickly to de-escalate the situation. Water tankers have been deployed across the affected neighborhoods to provide emergency supplies directly to households.

The Cause

According to Sunil Gopal, the CWA’s Head of Communication, the outage was triggered by a technical fault. He confirmed that a pump failure at L’Espérance is responsible for the disruption.

Outlook

Authorities have indicated that the disruption is temporary. The CWA expects the water supply to return to normal shortly as repair work progresses.
