ADSU Seize 5 Luxury Cars and Cash in Major Rose Hill Anti-Drug Operation

Detectives from the Western Division Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU) have dealt a significant blow to suspected illicit activity following a high-stakes raid in Camp-Levieux, Rose Hill, on Friday, 30 January.

The operation resulted in the seizure of MUR 608,600 in cash and a fleet of five luxury vehicles with an estimated market value of approximately MUR 3 million. Among the impounded assets are two BMWs, a Range Rover, and two city cars.

Arrests and Charges

Authorities have arrested two individuals in connection with the haul:

• A 53-year-old father
• His 27-year-old son

Both men are facing allegations of money laundering. The 27-year-old suspect appeared before the Weekend Court today, Saturday, to face a provisional charge.

His father, however, has not yet appeared in court. He is currently receiving medical treatment at the PMOC Hospital in Candos, where he was admitted after reportedly falling ill.

Ongoing Investigation

The raid is being hailed as a major success for the Western Division ADSU. Detectives are continuing their inquiries into the source of the wealth, with the five vehicles currently held under seal as evidence.

The investigation remains ongoing under the strict supervision of the anti-drug brigade.
