British Tourist Discovers Human Remains on Pomponette Beach
Human remains have been discovered on Pomponette beach in the south of the island, sparking a police investigation into their origin. The grim find was made on Monday, 12 January by a British tourist who was visiting the coastal area. Upon spotting the bones, the holidaymaker immediately alerted local authorities.
Forensic Examination Underway
Following the report, police arrived at the scene to secure the area. The remains have since been transported to the Victoria Hospital mortuary, where forensic specialists are expected to conduct a series of analyses to identify the deceased and determine the circumstances surrounding the remains.
An official inquiry has been opened to establish the origin of the bones. At this stage, investigators have not released further details regarding the age of the remains or how long they may have been on the beach.
