Mauritius Secures 18th US-Africa Summit, Boosting Profile in 2026
The President and CEO of the Corporate Council for Africa (CCA), Florizelle Liser, has confirmed that the US-Africa Business Summit will be held in Mauritius from July 26 to 29, 2026.
Key Meeting in Port Louis
The announcement comes following a meeting in Port Louis on Thursday, December 4, between Ms. Liser and the Mauritian Prime Minister, Dr. Navin Ramgoolam. Ms. Liser was joined by Jean Raymond Boulle, Biouva Kabine, and Ambassador Henry Jardine.
Discussions between the parties focused primarily on the organisation of the major upcoming Summit.
Summit Significance and Endorsements
Following the meeting, Ms. Liser described the talks as “excellent,” noting her long-standing professional relationship with the Prime Minister.
“I worked a long time in the American government and I had the privilege of meeting him for the first time during one of his first years as Prime Minister. So, we had a very good conversation,” she stated.
She highlighted that the Summit will specifically showcase Mauritius’s achievements, including its economic diversification, its leading role in financial services, and its commitment to promoting investment. The Summit will also focus on the opportunities the island nation offers for investment into the rest of Africa.
The event, which will be the 18th Summit overall, marks the seventh time an African country has hosted the high-profile gathering.
Boosting International Profile
The decision to host the event in Mauritius is viewed as a major opportunity for the nation to significantly strengthen its international visibility and cement its role as an essential platform for African investments.
