The Cascavelle Shopping Mall is set to unveil its massive Rs 2.6 billion extension in the last week of November, after 23 months of construction. The ambitious project will triple the mall’s existing size to a sprawling 30,000 m², featuring over 150 retailers and a significant focus on leisure and dining.

New Retailers and Enhanced Experience

The expansion is poised to transform the mall into a major destination, driven by a growing demand from new businesses and a desire to enrich the customer experience.

The newly enlarged space will host a variety of major new additions, including:

  • Legends Park: A 2,000 m² leisure park for children, teenagers, and adults, offering play structures, virtual reality, arcade games, and a supervised crèche for children aged four and up. This is a franchise of the Royal Kids group.
  • Monoprix Maison: A dedicated store for home goods and decoration.
  • Fashion and Wellness: New fashion brands like Xti and Celio, a redesigned and enlarged Fashion House, and Olavie, a wellness concept combining pharmacy, cosmetics, nutrition, and hair care.
  • Dining: An expanded food offering with new restaurants such as Nando’s, Black Salt, Yellow Chilli, Duan Restaurant, and Club 69. Around 30 of the 150-plus retailers will be dedicated to dining.
  • Local Entrepreneurs: Several kiosks dedicated to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and artisans, including Baz Confit, Nuts & Dried Fruits Land, Ti Gouter Moris, African Beauty, and Mini Melts.
  • Supermarket: The Winner’s supermarket will also be enlarged.

Strategic Investment and Design Features

The extensive refurbishment introduces a contemporary aesthetic with a glass façade, three levels in the new section, and vegetated spaces designed to create a more pleasant visitor environment.

General Manager at Medine Property, Edgar Julienne, explained that the investment reflects the firm’s aim to solidify the Cascavelle Shopping Mall’s position as the “flagship destination of the West,” a “place for living, working, and leisure.”

Visitor convenience has also been addressed, with parking capacity increasing from 560 to 1,263 spaces, some of which will be covered.

Improved Accessibility on the Horizon

The mall’s accessibility is set to be further boosted by the upcoming Flic-en-Flac Bypass, which is currently still under development.

The mall is already strategically positioned at a key intersection linking the centre, the capital, and the west/south-west of the island.
