New Tourist Tax in Mauritius Begins October 1
Starting October 1, 2023, tourists staying in Mauritius will need to pay a new “Tourist Fee” of 3 euros per night. This change was announced in the 2025/26 budget.
The fee applies to all visitors over 12 years old staying in hotels, guesthouses, holiday residences, or resorts.
Guests will pay the tax directly to their accommodation providers.
The hotels and guesthouses will then be responsible for sending the collected funds to the Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA) each month.
