Rising Cases: 12 Dengue, 13 Chikungunya Infections Confirmed

Mauritius is currently grappling with 12 confirmed cases of dengue fever. Dr Fazil Khodabocus, interim director of Health Services, offers a note of optimism: “One patient has made a full recovery and is back home. The other 11 individuals are being treated at health facilities, notably at Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital in Rose-Belle and in Souillac.
They are closely monitored, and there are no significant concerns regarding their conditions.”
These cases have been identified in the Plaine-Magnien region, prompting local authorities and health officials to intensify their efforts to manage the situation effectively.
In addition, there are now 13 cases of chikungunya in the area. Notably, a four-year-old child from Grand-Baie has tested positive and is receiving care at a local clinic.
Furthermore, three imported cases from La Réunion have also been reported.
As this situation unfolds, health officials are urging residents to stay alert and take proactive measures to protect their health.
