Neonatal ICU Shut Down Following Bacterial Outbreak

The neonatal ICU at the Northern Hospital has temporarily closed due to a bacterial infection.

Health Minister Kailesh Jagutpal announced that the unit would undergo disinfection and testing before reopening.

The closure was prompted by a case where a baby tested positive for antibiotic-resistant bacteria, which subsequently spread to other infants in the unit.

The affected newborns have been transferred to other hospitals for treatment.
