Historic seizure of 100 kg of Cannabis: seven arrested, including police officer
Seven people were arrested after a historic seizure of nearly 100 kg of cannabis (worth Rs100million) in Black River on Monday evening.
According to Police Commissioner Anil Kumar Dip, a police constable assigned to Terre Rouge Police Station has been arrested.
Other police officers, he said, could be involved in the traffic that could have regional ramifications.
The historic seizure shows the extent of drug traffic in Mauritius.
They appeared in Bambous court on Tuesday. They were provisionally charged with drug trafficking.
