Rodrigues Chief Commissioner Serge Clair burns Xavier Duval’s letter
Rodrigues outgoing Chief Commissioner Serge Clair has blasted Mauritius opposition and PMSD leader Xavier-Luc Duval, acusing the latter for having allegedly insulted the people of the island.
According to l’Express newspaper, Clair was critical against a letter sent by Duval to the island’s parties, urging them to joining forces against the OPR ruling party for the upcoming regional assembly elections.
Duval also reportedly denounced corruption and abuses of power under the OPR administration.
Clair, the leader of the OPR, reportedly burnt a copy of the letter in public. “He (Duval) claims you are bad people. Look how he is criticising you.”
Reacting to the attacks, Duval told l’Express: “I’m sorry for him. He is panicking. It’s a violent reaction to a letter that was not intended for him in the first place.
