Angus Road affair: Death of key protagonist sparks suspicion
Loganaden “Alan” Govinden – said to be a key protagonist in the Angus Road affair – has died, leaving the local political world in shock.
The London-based Mauritian businessman and film producer, said to have paid Rs20 million for a property currently owned by PM Pravind Jugnauth’s children, reportedly died in England on November 3, 2021 from a “short illness” .
No further details on the cause of death has been made public.
Defi Media and l’Express reported that lawyer Rama Valayden has written to the UK’s National Crime Agency, requesting a “full investigation” into Govinden’s death “in the interest of truth and justice”.
The newspapers cited Valayden as claiming that “without Loganaden Govinden, there will be a missing link in the investigation” into the Angus Road scandal.
The transaction came under spotlight after claims from the opposition that the transaction was doubtful.
