Sunday 8 Hours Blackouts: 2 Major CEB Maintenance Phases Strike National Grid

The Central Electricity Board (CEB) has announced a widespread series of planned power interruptions across multiple regions this Sunday, December 7, as part of essential maintenance and infrastructure reinforcement work on the national grid.

Thousands of residents will face temporary blackouts, with some areas losing supply for up to eight and a half hours. The CEB stated these operations are “indispensable to guarantee a more reliable and secure supply.”

Affected Areas and Timings: The Breakdown

The cuts are scheduled at various times and locations throughout the day, with the earliest starting at 7:30 AM and some lasting until 5:00 PM.

Phased Cuts in Key Locations

Several areas will experience interruptions split across different times:

  • Pointe-aux-Sables:
    • Phase 1 (8:30 AM to 11:00 AM): Morcellement Rey, and Avenues Bosquet, Cerisiers, Dawood, Golden Lane, and the coastal road.
    • Phase 2 (11:30 AM to 2:30 PM): The environs of Route Royale and the DBM industrial zone.
  • 16ᵉ Mile Sector:
    • Phase 1 (8:30 AM to 11:00 AM): NHDC Coriolis Road.
    • Phase 2 (12:00 PM to 2:30 PM): Ransoo Lane, Bojo Lane, and Ramparsad Lane.
  • Wootun:
    • Morning (8:30 AM to 11:00 AM): Blocks F and G.
    • Afternoon (12:00 PM to 3:00 PM): Blocks A and B.

Consumer Advisory

The CEB has advised residents in the affected zones to take necessary precautions. They also cautioned that power may be restored earlier than scheduled without prior notice.
