Survey reveals consumer mood at ‘all-time low’
A latest survey has revealed that consumer mood is at an all-time low.
“It fell by 5 points from 53% during the second quarter last year to 48% for the same period in 2021,” l’Express reported.
The survey was conducted by Kantar Mauritius’ last month with a sample of 400 Mauritian adults.
“In the context of COVID-19, despite the ongoing vaccination campaign, some 28% of those polled said they were extremely worried about a third wave,” the newspaper said.
One of the main elements that reportedly brought down the morale of locals was lesser household income and a strong perception of rising cost of living.
At least half (50%) of respondents said they expect a drop in income over the next six months.
