Controversial project raised in Parliament
The Legend Hill project in La Tourelle, Tamarin, is expected to find its way to Parliament after promoters reportedly refused “to be transparent” by refusing access to experts on site.
Opposition MPs Fabrice David (Labour) and Joanna Berenger (MMM) said they were also refused access, Le Mauricien reported.
“This is a crime against nature. The residents’ lives are in danger.”
They have also criticized the District Council of Riviere Noire for its alleged “lack of objectivity.”
Hundreds of protesters had walked in the streets of Tamarin in February as part of the “Salt March” against the Legend Hill real estate project by the French company MJ Développement.
Social activist Bruneau Laurette had alleged that the permit was given during the confinement and “several ministers could be linked to the project.”
