17-Year-Old Boy Dies in Floréal Drowning Tragedy

The teenager from Rose Hill has died after getting into difficulty in the water at Floréal on Thursday afternoon, 26 March.

The tragedy occurred at Rue Elliotte, in the Cascades Deux Lizier area of Résidences L’Oiseau.

Emergency services were called to the scene, where members of the Fire and Rescue Service recovered the teenager’s body from the water.

Upon arrival, personnel from the Emergency Medical Assistance Service (SAMU) confirmed that the adolescent had passed away.

Investigation Underway

While the exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, it is understood that the youth had travelled to the location accompanied by a group of friends.

Local authorities in Floréal have launched a formal investigation into the death.

At this stage, investigators are treating the drowning as a suspected accident, though inquiries continue to determine the precise sequence of events that led to the fatality.
