Petrol & Diesel Costs Surge by Over Rs 5 Following Committee Price Review
Motorists are facing a significant squeeze at the pumps following an immediate increase in fuel prices announced by the Petroleum Pricing Committee (PPC) on Wednesday evening, 15 April.
In a meeting held, the committee recommended a substantial upward revision for both petrol and diesel.
The retail price of petrol has risen from Rs 58.45 to Rs 64.25 per litre, while diesel saw a jump from Rs 64.80 to Rs 71.25 per litre.
The new rates represent a sharp climb for consumers, with petrol increasing by Rs 5.80 and diesel by Rs 6.45 per litre respectively.
The PPC confirmed that these recommendations were finalised during their evening session, effective immediately for retail sale across the island.
