Mciné 'La Croisette' to Reopen on 16 April following Star Cinema's Closure

Cinema is set to return to La Croisette shopping mall this month as MCiné prepares to relaunch the complex formerly operated by Star.

The site, which has been vacant since Star ceased operations on 31 March after years of service, will officially reopen its doors on 16 April.

The move comes in direct response to a significant shortage of silver-screen venues in the north of the country.

Cutting-Edge Technology

Rajesh Callicharan, Director of MCiné, stated that the takeover was driven by local demand.

To modernise the experience, the operator is investing in significant infrastructure upgrades, including:

  • Dolby Atmos sound systems for total immersion.
  • Enhanced Wide Screens designed for modern viewing standards.
  • Upgraded Facilities to replace the now-obsolete standards of older local venues like King’s and Anand.

Opening Line-up

Moviegoers can expect a high-profile start to the new season. The inaugural screenings will feature Bhooth Bangla, directed by Priyadarshan and starring Akshay Kumar, alongside the highly anticipated Michael Jackson biopic, Michael.

Affordable Entertainment

Despite a challenging economic climate, Mr Callicharan remains optimistic about the industry’s resilience.

He noted that cinema remains a popular pastime because it is considerably more affordable than other forms of leisure.

In a move to ensure accessibility for the local community, MCiné has confirmed it will maintain ticket prices at Rs 250.
