CCTV Footage Seized in Investigation into Fatal Assault of 81-Year-Old

Paul Claude Duval died in hospital on the evening of 24 December, eleven days after the altercation took place. Police investigators have secured CCTV footage capturing the moments an 81-year-old man was fatally assaulted during a neighbourhood dispute in La Caverne.

The newly seized video evidence reportedly shows Mr Duval surrounded by a group of individuals before falling heavily onto the pavement.

Post-Mortem Findings

A forensic autopsy conducted on Christmas Day confirmed that Mr Duval died from septicaemia.

However, the examination also revealed significant cranial injuries sustained during the incident on 13 December.

The police have now formally added the surveillance recordings to the investigation file as they seek to establish the exact circumstances leading to the pensioner’s death.

Sequence of Events

The confrontation occurred in Cité La Cavern, Vacoas, following what has been described as a “neighbourhood dispute.”

Mr Duval was admitted to hospital immediately following the assault, where he remained for over a week before succumbing to his injuries.
