SBM Embraces Digital Wave, 2 Apps Now Power Contactless Visa Payments
SBM Bank has significantly expanded its digital payment strategy by integrating SBM Visa cards with the SBM Tag app and Garmin Connect, enabling users to make contactless payments with their compatible smart devices.
This pivotal development means that Android, iOS, and owners of NFC-compatible Garmin smartwatches can now perform tap-and-pay transactions after registering their SBM Visa cards on either of the platforms.
The move marks a major step in the Bank’s aim to offer tools tailored to “daily use,” following the launch of its own SBM Tag application in December 2024.
Visa also emphasised the growing importance of payments made via connected devices, citing their convenience and reliability.
New Access for iPhone Users
For iPhone users, the integration with Garmin Connect is particularly noteworthy, offering a significant change in access to digitalisation.
The “digital cards” feature is now immediately available through this route.
The Bank plans for this functionality to progressively extend to other devices as SBM Bank continues to deepen its technological partnerships.
According to Anil Gujjalu, the Bank’s Head of Payment Solutions, this expansion is a natural progression following the December 2024 launch of SBM Tag.
