Bank of Mauritius Seizes 23 Counterfeit Banknotes

The Bank of Mauritius (BoM) has seized a total of 23 counterfeit banknotes of various denominations between January and July 2025.

Police Investigation Underway

The fake currency was detected and subsequently confiscated by the central bank.

A representative from the BoM’s Currency Office promptly took action by filing an official complaint with the police to allow for a thorough investigation into the matter.

Evidence Handed Over

All 23 suspect notes have been handed over to the police as key evidence. The police have immediately launched an enquiry to determine the origin of the counterfeiting operation.
