Income Tax Regulations 2023 to be Implemented in July to Validate PAYE Formula
The Cabinet has recently noted that the Income Tax (Amendment No. 2) Regulations 2023 will be promulgated and will come into effect on July 1, 2023.
The purpose of these regulations is to amend the existing Income Tax Regulations 1996 in order to validate the Pay-As-You-Earn (PAYE) formula utilised by the Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA) for calculating emoluments earned by employees from July 2023 onwards.
The regulations will incorporate a number of consequential amendments.
This move reflects the government’s ongoing efforts to ensure accuracy and fairness in the taxation system, providing clarity and a sound legal framework for income tax calculations.
