Attorney General Maneesh Gobin and former Parliamentary Private Secretary Rajanah Dhaliah are no longer facing a private prosecution case.

The case, initiated by citizen Vivay Kanum Pursun, accused Gobin and Dhaliah of conspiring to allocate 250.76 hectares of state land to the Eco Deer Park Association in exchange for a bribe of Rs 3.5 million.

However, during the court hearing on November 28, 2023, the Acting Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions, Adeelah Hamuth, filed a motion to discontinue the proceedings, resulting in the case being dropped.

While this marks the end of the private prosecution, Pursun has filed another request to the Supreme Court to mandate the Independent Commission Against Corruption and the police to summon Gobin for interrogation, with the motion set to continue on January 8, 2024.
