Supreme Court rejects ReA’s appeal to strike down Best Loser System

The Supreme Court denied Rezistans ek Alternativ’s request to appeal to the Privy Council to eliminate the Best Loser System.

ReA sought to challenge the Supreme Court’s previous verdict which dismissed their constitutional complaint against the state, but the Court disagreed with their legal counsel’s decision to introduce new arguments.

The Supreme Court ruled that ReA was attempting to challenge a provision of law that had already been repealed.

ReA and its members have been contesting the disqualification of electoral candidates who don’t declare their ethnic identity since 2012.
