Labour Party faces five new resignations

On July 6, four members of Labour Party from constituency no. 7 (Piton/Rivière du-Rempart) and one member from the executive committee of constituency no. 17 (Curepipe/Midlands) submitted their resignation letters to the party leader.

These resigning members are Dhanraj Ramdhony, Bhavesh Ramkailahun, Mooroogen Ammugam, and Vicky Rajcoomar from constituency no. 7 (Piton/Rivière du-Rempart) and Ashvin Jugroo from constituency no. 17 (Curepipe/Midlands).

They have reportedly claimed that the possibility of an alliance with the MMM and the PMSD does not align with the wishes of Labour supporters.

They reportedly also criticised recent decisions made by Navin Ramgoolam and the party’s choice of potential candidates for these constituencies, who do not have unanimous support on the ground and within the regional committees.
