Petrol prices going down globally, how about Mauritius?
Expectations are high as to whether petrol prices be reviewed as the Petroleum Pricing Committee readies to meet on 11 May.
Consumer groups and gas station owners are pushing for a price drop in the prices of gasoline and diesel. However, the State Trading Corporation (STC) warned that the Price Stabilization Account is still facing a “big deficit”.
“The price of diesel should have gone up twice, but the Minister of Commerce objected to such rise. So the deficit has increased further,” said STC boss Rajiv Servansingh.
Globally, Brent crude fell to $73.75 a barrel.
