Sherry Singh 'intrigued' by timing of legal actions to freeze his assets

Former CEO of Mauritius Telecom Sherry Singh has announced he will take legal action against the Government and the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) for freezing his assets.

Reacting to the news that all his assets – properties, shares, interest payables – and those of 10 of his closest aides have been slapped with a ‘Freezing Order’ of the Supreme Court, Sherry Singh said he is “intrigued” by the “operation” that has financially paralysed its socio-political platform, One Moris.

The freezing order concerns 15 companies linked to Singh and reportedly brew several hundreds of million of rupees and operate in various sectors.

Sherry Singh alleged the freezing of his property is an attempt by the controversy-ridden MSM government to divert attention from the Franklin drug case and the investigation into bribe allegations involving a minister’s advisor.

Singh also revealed that he and his wife were the subject of an “objection to departure”, despite the absence of a police investigation.
