Police Find Woman 33 Dead Behind Forced Bathroom Door Lock in Care Home
A 33-year-old woman has been found dead at a residential care home in Curepipe, sparking a murder investigation after a fellow resident reportedly confessed to the killing.
The victim was discovered in a bathroom at the facility on Tuesday, 10 March.
Officers called to the scene noted visible injuries to her neck and observed that the lock on the bathroom door had been forced. This led investigators to immediately treat the death as “foul play.”
Forensic findings
A post-mortem examination carried out by forensic pathologists Dr Sudesh Kumar Gungadin and Dr Prem Chamane confirmed the cause of death.
The medical experts concluded that the resident died as a result of strangulation.
Arrest and confession
Following the discovery, police arrested another resident of the home.
During police interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to the act.
Authorities have kept the suspect in custody as the investigation continues.
While an admission of guilt has been obtained, detectives are still working to establish a formal motive for the attack.
