Police Arrest Suspected Mastermind, 24, after High-Speed Pursuit Across the Entire Island

The suspected mastermind behind an extensive online fraud operation on TikTok, which allegedly defrauded numerous customers, was apprehended by police on Monday, 9 March, following a dramatic chase across the island.

Yasseen Perrbux, a 24-year-old resident of Rose-Belle, was taken into custody by the Divisional Crime Intelligence Unit of the Northern Division.

The arrest followed a high-speed pursuit that began in Riche-Terre and concluded in Pointe-aux-Canonniers, bringing a significant police operation involving multiple units to a close.

Mr. Perrbux is accused of orchestrating a fraudulent online sales scheme via TikTok, primarily targeting consumers with air-conditioning units and other electronic devices.

According to investigators, the operation lured victims with an enticing “Buy One Get One Free” promotion for Hisense air-conditioners, priced at Rs 11,290.

The suspect is alleged to have operated alongside an accomplice, Fraheen Jootun, who was previously arrested by authorities on 27 January.

Upon apprehending Mr. Perrbux, officers seized a haul of evidence, including multiple SIM cards, various pieces of jewellery, and several mobile phones.
