New Vice-Chancellor Appointed at University of Mauritius for a 3-Year Term

Professor Kavi Kumar Khedo has been named the new Vice-Chancellor of the University of Mauritius (UoM), following a high-level meeting of the university council on Friday, 6 March.

The council formalised the appointment after approving recommendations from a dedicated selection committee tasked with finding a successor for the institution’s top administrative post. Professor Khedo is set to lead the university for a three-year term.

Academic and Professional Background

Professor Khedo joins the leadership from the Faculty of Information, Communication and Digital Technologies (FoICDT).

His career includes a significant tenure at the University of Technology, where he previously served as Deputy Director.

His credentials in the tech and engineering sectors are well-established internationally.

He holds senior membership status at both the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the Association of Computing Machinery.

International Research

Beyond his roles within Mauritian institutions, Professor Khedo brings a wealth of global academic experience to the Vice-Chancellorship.

He has previously served as a research fellow at two prestigious international institutions:

  • Lancaster University in the United Kingdom
  • The University of Massachusetts in the United States
