Emirates Suspends all 2 Daily Flights to Mauritius following Strikes in Iran
Emirates has suspended all flights to and from Mauritius until further notice following a series of military strikes launched by the United States and Israel against Iran this Saturday, 28 February.
The airline confirmed the decision today, citing “security uncertainty” in the region. The move comes as the Middle East faces a sharp escalation in hostilities, leaving international flight paths in a state of flux.
A “Major Combat” Underway
US President Donald Trump has described the ongoing operation as a “major combat” and issued a direct call for Iranian forces to lay down their arms.
The offensive follows weeks of simmering tensions and failed negotiations regarding Iran’s nuclear programme. Reports of explosions have emerged from several cities across Iran as the joint operation continues.
“Pre-emptive” Action
Earlier today, the Israeli Defence Minister announced that the strikes were part of a “pre-emptive attack” against the country.
The suspension of the Emirates route—a vital link for the Mauritian travel and tourism sector—remains indefinite as officials monitor the volatile security situation.
