Potential for Tropical Storm ‘Gezani’

Should the system strengthen into a moderate tropical storm in the coming days, it will be officially named Gezani.

Meteorologists have pinpointed the system’s current location at approximately 11° South and 63° East, positioned roughly 600 km east of Agalega.

Immediate Impact on Saint-Brandon

While the broader Mascarene region prepares for a weekend shift in weather, the impact will be felt much sooner in the north.

Forecasts indicate that Saint-Brandon will begin to experience deteriorating weather and sea conditions as early as Thursday, 5 February.

Current Trajectory

According to the synoptic map released by the Vacoas station, the system is moving through a region conducive to steady development.

Local authorities and residents across the Mascarenes are advised to monitor updates as the system progresses toward the islands.
