Triolet Shopkeeper Aged 51 Held at Gunpoint for 4 Bottles of Soda
Police have launched an investigation after a masked man brandished a suspected firearm at a shopkeeper on Thursday evening, only to flee the scene with several bottles of fizzy drinks. The incident occurred at approximately 7:30 pm on 22 January, when a man wearing a red T-shirt and black shorts entered a local boutique.
According to official reports, the suspect approached the counter and pointed a black “revolver” at the 51-year-old shopkeeper, threatening her life while demanding cash.
A Strange Turn of Events
Despite the gravity of the death threat, the encounter took an unusual turn. When the victim asked the assailant what he wanted, the man reportedly fell silent and walked out of the shop.
However, his departure was brief. Minutes later, the suspect returned to the premises, seized four bottles of soft drinks, and fled the scene without making any further attempt to take money or pay for the items.
Police Investigation
The Triolet Police Station received a formal complaint later that evening. Officers are currently working to determine the authenticity of the weapon used during the robbery.
- Status of the Weapon: It has not yet been established if the “revolver” was a genuine firearm or a realistic imitation.
- The Victim: While the 51-year-old shopkeeper was not physically harmed, she is said to be suffering from severe shock.
- Suspect Description: Due to the mask, the victim was unable to identify the perpetrator.
Surveillance Evidence
Detectives are now pinning their hopes on technology to crack the case. The entire confrontation was captured on the shop’s CCTV system.
These images have been handed over to the police, who are currently analysing the footage to identify the man in the red T-shirt.
