CFA & ACCA Unite Under Landmark Deal to Bolster Mauritian Financial Ethics
Two of the most prominent professional bodies in the financial sector, CFA Society Mauritius and ACCA Mauritius, have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at elevating financial and accounting standards across the island.
The agreement, formalised last November, establishes a strategic partnership designed to enhance professional training, ethical frameworks, and excellence within a rapidly evolving industry.
A Four-Pillar Framework
The collaboration focuses on four key areas of development to support local professionals:
- Joint Continuing Education: The organisation of shared training events.
- Research Initiatives: Collaborative projects to explore industry trends.
- Public Policy Advocacy: Joint efforts to influence financial policy issues.
- Ethical Promotion: The advancement of professional best practices and rigorous ethical standards.
Strengthening the Regional Hub
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Madhavi Ramdin-Clark, Head of ACCA Mauritius and New Markets, emphasised that the alliance would provide members with a broader spectrum of knowledge.
“By joining forces, we strengthen the position of Mauritius as a regional financial centre,” she stated.
Chandradev Naregadu, President of CFA Society Mauritius, echoed these sentiments, noting that the partnership reflects a shared vision to equip professionals with the “skills and integrity necessary in a constantly changing global economy.”
International Recognition
The event was also attended by Nerina Visser, representative of the CFA Institute Board of Regents for the Europe, Middle East, and Africa region.
Ms Visser lauded the initiative as an exemplary move, noting that it embodies the values of collaboration and the advancement of the profession.
Beyond the immediate training benefits, the two organisations aim to foster “enlightened leadership” and ethical innovation.
The ultimate goal is to consolidate the reputation of Mauritius as a regional hub defined by professional rigour and competence.
