Mauritius Weather Watch: Heavy Showers, December 5 Expiry, With Thunderstorm Risk
The public is strongly advised to exercise extreme caution as the atmospheric conditions become increasingly humid and unstable, leading to the formation of active clouds. This Heavy Rain Watch has been issued for Mauritius by the meteorological station, effective immediately and valid until 5:00 AM, Friday, December 5.
- Stay Indoors: Remain in safe locations and avoid open areas, hiking, or seeking shelter under trees during thunderstorms.
- Avoid Flood-Prone Zones: Stay clear of areas known to be susceptible to water accumulation. Temporary waterlogging is possible in low-lying areas.
- Road Safety: Drive with great care due to potential reduced visibility caused by heavy showers and fog in certain regions.
Forecast Details
Moderate and localised showers are expected, which may become temporarily heavy and be accompanied by thunderstorms.
The Watch, which was issued this December 4th, is in place to warn residents of the potential for these conditions across the island.
